Pixel art wallpapers that are alive.

They follow your clock and the real moon, change with the weather, and never play the same loop twice. This is the real wallpaper running in your browser, in 16:9: play with it. Native 21:9 and 32:9 come with the pack.

Night Train coming Oct 27

Theme 3. A train crosses a bay at the foot of a neon city. By night it is the Nocturne sleeper, blue and gold, with a dining car and a bar car; by day the Zephyr; sometimes a freight train. The cars are put together at random, so no two trains are the same. Ferris wheel, lighthouse, ferry, real moon phase, rain and fog.

FAQ

How do I install it on Windows?

Use Lively Wallpaper (free, Microsoft Store): “Add wallpaper”, then pick the .html file. With Wallpaper Engine (Steam), the Pack includes one ready-made Wallpaper Engine project (all formats): in Wallpaper Engine, choose Open Wallpaper → Open from File and import it. A Workshop release is coming soon.

And on a Mac?

The Pack includes a small Mac app that puts the wallpaper behind your desktop icons. The app is not notarized: on first launch, open System Settings → Privacy & Security and click “Open Anyway”. You can also use the free app Plash with the .html file.

Can I just use a browser?

Yes. Open the .html file in Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari and go full screen (F11, or Ctrl+Cmd+F on Mac). It works offline.

Does it work on my phone?

The Pack has stills and vertical videos sized for iPhone (1179×2556, 1290×2796) and Android (1440×3120). Android: use the video with any free “video live wallpaper” app. iPhone: iOS does not allow video wallpapers; use the stills, or turn the video into a Live Photo with a third-party app (limited effect).

Does it slow down my computer?

The scenes are drawn at a low internal resolution and a capped frame rate, then scaled up. Lively and Wallpaper Engine also pause it when a game or a full-screen app is running.

Is there a Steam Deck or ultrawide 5K2K version?

Yes. Each pack now includes 1280×800 for the Steam Deck, 5120×2160 (5K2K), 7680×1440 for three 16:9 screens (set your wallpaper app to “Span”), 16:10, MacBook and iPad sizes. Free update for people who already bought a pack.

Can I use it on stream or YouTube?

Yes, even monetized, as a background, with a credit “Wallpaper: Ambiant Pixel”. Resale and re-uploading the files are not allowed. Refunds within 14 days.
